For this reason, it is good to take care of the cleanliness of your car to enjoy a healthier environment and a pleasant aroma in it. Continue reading this article to learn how to properly sanitize your car seats.
Ideally, seats upholstered in fabric should be vacuumed once a week (remember seat mats), and unpleasant stains are recommended to be treated immediately. Seasonal or even more frequent precision sanitation can be performed depending on how actively your car is used.
Vacuum the seats
Start by cleaning up dust particles, pet hair or fallen hair that is stuck to the upholstery. Use a suitable attachment to reach the spaces between the backrests and the seats. After completing this process, choose an upholstery brush to lift the fibers of the fabric.
Take care of the stains in advance
If you see available stains, you will get better results by pre-treating them before performing a thorough cleaning. To treat food and beverage stains, grease and mud, simply use a small amount of upholstery cleaner on the specific area by rubbing the product into the fabric with a brush. Leave on for at least 15 minutes before performing a thorough cleaning. For stains that are based on different dyes, you can first slightly moisten the colored area. Then you will need a product containing bleach. Drop a few drops from it and leave it on for at least an hour. Finally, vacuum and repeat the procedure if necessary.
Apply upholstery cleaning solution
Depending on the preparation chosen, you may need to mix the solution with lukewarm water. Follow the instructions on the cleaning product preparation label. The best way to apply the product is by spraying, so we advise you to get a bottle with a spray pump. Thanks to it you will control the amount that goes to the tissue. Start at the top of the seat and spray lightly downwards without overdoing it.
Allow the seats to dry
After cleaning the seats with water and a suitable detergent, we advise you to let the upholstery dry well before using your car again. In good weather it takes 2 to 3 hours. It is possible to speed up the drying process by using a dryer or by parking the car in a sunny place. Provided that the seats are still wet, you can place a small moisture absorber with crystals next to them to capture moisture.
Use a detergent with a protective coating
Finally, complete the cleaning with a fabric detergent, which will keep the seats clean and fresh for longer. Its properties will help fight more stubborn stains, and the next cleaning will be much easier if you take precautions.
