5 mistakes you make when cleaning

Cleaning your home may not be one of your favorite daily or weekly responsibilities, but it is necessary. Most of us usually want to do the housework in the shortest possible time with the best results in terms of effort. To help you be more organized, we suggest you read the five mistakes you most often make when cleaning. If you make a few slight changes in the organization of cleaning activities, you will complete the activities to maintain better hygiene much faster and you will have more time to enjoy your clean home.

Wrong order of cleaning steps

Our advice is to stick to one simple rule – always clean from top to bottom. Start with the highest parts and finish with the lowest ones. First is the cleaning of the ceiling from cobwebs, followed by wiping the lamps, cornices, removing the curtains, in case it’s time to wash them. The windows are washed or if you have done this procedure recently, you can move on to wiping the sills, worktops, furniture. Finally, clean the floor / carpet with a vacuum cleaner and wash it with a mop and specialized detergent to the surface.

It is good to know that if you first clean the floor and then move on to the other elements, all the dust will return to them. So, you enter a doomed cycle.

Failure to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations

In our opinion, it is extremely important to pay attention to the labels of cleaning and laundry products. The manufacturer is obliged to state whether the preparation is a concentrate and whether it is necessary to dissolve it in water and in what proportion. Do not ignore these instructions, because if the product is in too large a quantity, it will remain on the surface and may attract even more dust or dirt. It is good to know that not all preparations have an instant effect. Sometimes the result may not be available until after certain hours.

Our recommendation is to read the labels carefully and be very clear that a larger amount of the product will not make your home cleaner, contrariwise, it could damage the furniture, various surfaces and the skin of your hands.

Selection of inappropriate detergents

Perhaps, this is one of the biggest and most common cleaning mistakes, which leads to inefficient hygiene and damage to the condition of various surfaces. For example, a gross mistake is to remove grease from the oven – scrape them. Doing so will damage the coating of the appliance, which can lead to corrosion. Try another approach: take a detergent that will dissolve the fat and then wash the remnants of soot with just warm water. Another example of an incorrect cleaning technique is the following: you notice scratches on the joints in the bathroom, formed as a result of cleaning with an abrasive product that is not compatible with the respective material. Therefore, unwanted traces remain on the joints, which violate their functional and aesthetic integrity.

When using cleaning products, we advise you not to spray directly on the furniture and the areas you will treat. Instead, spray the required amount of product on a suitable cloth and wipe the surfaces. In this way the preparation will be evenly distributed, will not leave residues or will be too difficult to remove. In our online store you can find the right cleaning products, designed for both professional use and individual consumer needs.

With many cleaning tasks under one arm

One really unconscious mistake – cleaning several fronts at once. We recommend that you boycott the method all at once. Instead, you can try to create a cleaning schedule. This will help you deal with hygiene tasks a little less, but regularly, instead of dealing with everything at the same time.

Another tip: try to include other family members in the clean home mission. However, two pairs of hands always do a better job than just one. Either way, it’s important to be organized, share responsibilities, and work together!

Which of these errors is present in your list? Is there one that we have not included in our ranking, and in your opinion it is often allowed?
